These Fallen Walls

Ephesians 2:14 (NASB)- "For he Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall"

These Fallen Walls was formed to minister, primarily, to the Body of Christ, or the church, through music. Truly non-denominational, the members of this versatile worship band represent several churches and ministries in the Powell, Wyoming area. "Many bands or groups say that they're non-denominational, but we really are, which is at the heart of this ministry. We're a group of people who come from different church backgrounds and traditions and who probably believe a little differently than one another, when it come to peripheral issues of faith. But, God has broken down the walls that separate so many today, uniting us through the truth of the gospel and our faith in Jesus Christ. That's really what we're about. God's people, united in love for Him and one another, to bring glory to the One true God of all.", says lead singer, Scotty Brown. Brown adds, "Our key verse and where our name comes from, talks about that whole idea. In Ephesians 2, Paul describes how Jesus broke down the walls that divided the Jews and the Gentiles; allowing both to share in God's grace and love, through the gift of salvation. I think the same can be said concerning the church of today. We've put up all these walls, which stand in the way of God's people sharing together and living out the love for one another that Jesus talks about in John 13:35, standing as proof to who we are in Him as well as in Matthew 22:39, where He tells us that the second greatest commandment is to love one another as we love ourselves. It's OK to disagree about many theological issues, but if those issues stand in the way of our ability to fellowship, in love, with one another, we aren't loving like Jesus said. By Jesus' sacrifice, those walls that stand between us should come crashing to the ground!"

That's exactly what's happened with These Fallen Walls!

With a musical background ranging from traditional Christian to praise and worship, from rock to punk and from country to pop, each member of These Fallen Walls brings a gift to the table that creates a versatility few worship bands posses. And, combined with a heart to minister to the church, they are just as comfortable in a traditional church setting, leading with hymns, as they are at a youth event, leading with cutting edge rock music. Brown adds, "I think by defining who we are by our music and limiting our style to one particular genre, we go against what God has placed us here to do, which is to minister to His entire body and not just a small segment of it. If we decide that we'll never do a traditional type of song we make a crucial mistake. First, we limit the reach of our ministry and alienate a huge portion of Christ's body who regularly worships in a more traditional way than some others. Second, we assume, wrongly, that everybody in the church worships the same way or that "my" way is the only "true" way. Scripture just doesn't back up that type of thinking. But, we're not all about comfort. We think it's healthy to challenge our thinking, no matter which side of the worship isle we're on. We, in the church, need to be gently challenged to look beyond what we see as "right" and "holy"."

In addition to leading the church in praise and worship, These Fallen Walls have begun working on a selection of original music and hope to finalize their music and begin the recording process very soon. They anticipate a CD release by the end of 2008. Original music gives the band an opportunity to show their hearts concerning issues of the church and of faith. It also adds to their versatility, giving them the ability to perform in a concert setting, where leading is not necessarily the goal, but rather speaking is. This setting also provides a wonderful place where by the gospel can be shared and the work of Christ, in the lives of the band members, can be shared, bringing glory and honor to the name of God.
